I'm not breaking through any fashion barriers today, am I? I am in familiar territory, with a cozy knit top and black midi skirt. But I felt so good that my confidence made me more visible and I smiled at (almost) everyone. Being visible isn't only about the clothing, of course: it's also in our posture, our attitude, and our willingness to engage.
I love a horizontal stripe on top, and this Old Navy knit is just right. The dropped shoulder makes it a little more stylish, and how about those stripes lining up between sleeve and body? I also like an open neck like this - no itching, and it shows off collar bones (in my 50's, I am very particular about what gets "shown off").
I like to "surrender the waist" some days; thanks to Angie from You Look Fab for that phrase. It's a different look for me but I enjoy the change. The skirt is a recent thrift store purchase. It's by Randolph Duke, whom I believe sells via the Home Shopping Club. It's a nice medium weight swingy knit. Thrifted wedge boots and a leaf pendant from Forever21 are the final touches.
| Nothing fancy, but it feels like me. |

I can't wait to see what you are wearing today!

ReplyDeleteSimple but pretty. The horizontal stripes are just the right size and a lovely color. The whole outfit works.

ReplyDeleteYou are always visible with that bright smile and beautiful hair! Speaking of black and blue, was it you who had a gorgeous blue velvet skirt a few months back? I could not find that post...

ReplyDeleteOK, I had to giggle about the non-itching comment.
ReplyDeleteBlue with black is one of my favorite color combinations.
ReplyDeleteAnd the stripes have just the right width to them. The long pendant helps break up the lines - something I learned to do from Une Femme.
Thank you for hosting another great Visible Monday! xoxo

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment on my site. It's scary starting a personal blog, but your Visible Monday is such a welcoming event. I have been following you for quite a while, but it's the first time to join VM. You look fab today! Your blog entries feel so genuine and I always look forward to seeing what's going on. I envy your warm weather!
ReplyDeleteFamiliar territory is a good thing, especially next to the 'kitties.' I'm learning about so many new blogs thanks to 'Visible Monday." Thank you Patti.
ReplyDeleteI love those stripes! Very similar to a Club Monaco top I wore on the weekend. The black/indigo is an easy way to get the graphic punch of stripes without too high a contrast (which can sometimes feel too attention-getting).
ReplyDeletewhat a great shirt, so versatile.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with stripes! LOVE
ReplyDeleteClassic & pretty
ReplyDeleteVery pretty outfit on you. Love the stripes.
ReplyDeleteVery classy as usual, I like this nautical stylish look. Navy blue is always elegant, it looks adorable when mixed with black stripes. Great outfit.
